BarkPark in Nashville TN – Fun For Pets & Their People

Another dog park! Well, not really, this is 1000x better than a dog park! Imagine a world where doggies played by your side – while you hang with your friends sipping wine – well, that is what BarkPark is about! Bringing together pets and their people in a fun and safe environment where they can all enjoy each others company.

What Is BarkPark?

BarkPark – a creation by the people behind BARK, the innovator’s behind BarkBox is scheduled to open on September 8, 2018 in Nashville, TN and looks to be a place where dog lover’s will truly unite!

The park was inspired by one simple thing – someone missed their dog when they were out with friends.

Think about that for a moment, you are out with friends at a local pub – where dogs are not allowed. In a sudden moment of sadness you realize your dog is not by your side and probably home sad and alone.

That is exactly what happened to Henrik, Werdelin the co-founder of BARK. Out with friends at a fancy restaurant drinking wine he realized that his dog Molly “deserves a space like this”.

So the planning began!

Why Pick Nashville?

BARK actually went through a pretty rigorous city “audition” where they traveled around and interviewed people walking around different cities with their dogs to get a feel for the city.

Werdelin stated “The weather and people are great and I wanted an excuse to spend more time there”.

Nashville is a city filled with great food, music and people – and is dog-obsessed!

I have personally been to Nashville – and as a Jersey girl, I can say – all of these things are true. I absolutely loved my trips there and think Nashville is a great pick for the BarkPark – although I may just be a bit jealous they did not pick the Jersey Shore! (hint hint BARK!).

What Will BarkPark Have?

Basically – BarkPark is a vision that will allow pets – and their people a place to gather socially. Where dogs can interact and parents can sit and relax and enjoy an afternoon with their pet-loving friends!

The plans for the park are huge and they will have a lot of fun and creative things to make dogs and people happy.

Here are a few of the things they plan on having in the park:

  • Expansive, manicured off-leash lawn for doggie play
  • Mini-sized coffeehouse with baristas that will serve coffee and snacks – and yes, for both dogs and their people
  • On-site staff trained to facilitate playtime for pup packs to help keep them safe and engaged
  • Free wi-fi
  • Restrooms
  • Shady areas for parents to chill while their dogs play
  • Special events like musical entertainment, beer tastings and more

Some of the upcoming events include Portraits at the Park, Downward Dog Yoga, Doggie Doodles, Pool Pawty and more.

Of course there will be a fee for entrance into the BarkPark – but we think it is well worth it for the ability to take our dog somewhere they will love!

There are 3 pricing options for entrance at the time of this writing:

  • $19 per day
  • $49 per month
  • $78 for 3 months

They do offer a 50% discount for siblings or multi-dog homes as well as a corporate membership option for local businesses. Passes allow (1) dog and (2) humans entrance into the park.

When Are They Open?

BarkPark will officially open on Saturday, September 8, 2018 and will close for winter on November 18, 2018. It looks like their daily hours are 7AM – 7PM

FAQ

There are a few rules about use of the park – and we hope parents are responsible enough to abide by them so the park can be a fun and safe environment for everyone who enjoys the use of it!

Not EVERY dog will enjoy this! I know with 100% certainty that my fear aggressive pooch would hate this place with a passion. And my 2 girls that passed – while one would have loved it, the other would not have.

Please KNOW your dog and what they comfort level is with other dogs and people!

Here are some of the basic rules they have listed:

  • No animals other than dogs are allowed
  • WATCH YOUR PUP!
  • Make sure your pup is up to date on vaccines, licenses and parasite treatments
  • Pick up your dogs poop!
  • Dogs must be spayed or neutered – this is a porn free area, so no doggy humping allowed.
  • No dogs under 4 months
  • No outside food
