If you are an animal rescue or shelter Kids Can Give Too is a great opportunity for you to earn a little extra in donations! By telling your supporters about this birthday party option – you can help them get involved in a way they may not know exists! It is easy to use and can result in a great donation with minimal effort.

I remember when my daughter was little and we would go from party to party, each party causing more stress and frustration. You see, the kids in our area pretty much have everything that they could ever want. I mean these kids are getting iPhones in 4th grade so what the heck could I buy a child with my measly $20 budget that would make my daughter look like a superstar?

NOTHING!

NADA!

ZILCH!

I dreaded every party – and every gift I had to buy.

This is why I LOVE the idea of Kids Can Give Too – a creative platform that encourages kids to be more philanthropic with their goods. Starting their journey of caring and donating/volunteering needs to start at a very young age to build them into the giving adults we want for our future.

Kids Can Give Too is a great way to help them learn a little more about some charities that need their help and how they can make a big impact from their own birthday parties.

How does Kids Can Give Too work?

By allowing your child to create an online invitation – they are also creating an opportunity to encourage friends and family to donate to the cause they choose through their invitation!

We tested the process and it was very easy to setup!

STEP 1

You should already know the date, time and location of your child’s birthday party before you begin the process on their website!

STEP 2

Hop on over to the website and register.

STEP 3

Once you are registered you will have access to a page where you can search and find the charity that you and your child are the most interested in supporting. (And boy do we hope you pick an animal rescue!). Below is what the dashboard looks like after I selected 2 different charities to support.

Step 4

The next step is to complete all the details that will be added to your custom online invitation. You will put in your child’s name. all the party details and your contact information.

There is even an option to create a “joint party invitation” if you need to add another person’s name who may be sharing the birthday party.

You will also note where you want the gift card sent to that your child will receive.

Step 5

Here you can add an image of your child (or a cute cat like we have below) and a quote from your child about their party and the donation! They can also explain how they would rather donations for their birthday instead of gifts – and you can both feel amazing about the awesomeness this party will bring! With NO extra work on your end!

Step 6

This is a page that offers you the option to purchase a “Kids Can Give Too” t-shirt.

Step 7

This is a review page where you can take a look at everything before moving forward with your invitation. Below is a screenshot of the page as we viewed it for our sample invitation.

Step 8

After you click the Confirm Party button – all the goodness happens. You will arrive at a screen that offers you a bunch of options including sharing your invitation online, inviting guests and you can edit your invitation at any time.

You can track your RSVP’s through the system as well which is a great feature.

How do the charities get money?

When someone gives your child a “gift” – 50% of the gift goes to the charity (or you can split the 50% between 2 groups where each gets 25%), the other half goes to your child.

You do not have to do a thing!

When the party is over your child will receive a gift card – the charity will receive a donation.

That would be called a WIN! WIN!

How can my charity or rescue be a part of this?

If you are a rescue or shelter who wants to have their nonprofit registered as an option for people to choose to donate too you can simply register on their website here.

There is a monthly fee of $29 per month to the charity which gets the organization:

• Custom branded landing page where you can invite people to book a party on your behalf
• Shown on the selection page when families create their invitations
• Dedicated manager to help you manage your account and send thank you notes to donors
• Exposure to families that may not be familiar with your organization

Let’s do the math!

Imagine you have 15 families at your child’s birthday party.

Each family donates $30 (instead of a gift).

That is $450!

Your child would get $225 and their chosen nonprofit would get $225.

Not too shabby right?

Another Option: Gifted

We learned about Gifted from a comment that was left on our website!

Gifted offers a large collection of invitations for your party and then offers you the opportunity to choose your favorite charity and create a customized fund page for your party.
