Coming up with original ideas in the photo world to help rescues is not an easy task. But then someone like Ricki Beason comes along with fun and creative photo series proving they are up to the challenging task.
Welcome to the world of Dad Bods + Dogs!
I am sharing this as inspiration for other photographers – or even animal rescues or shelters to create a campaign of their own with their dad supporters and rescued pets!
This fun – and unique – photo series was created by Ricki Beason to really capture the dad dog bond that happens in homes all over the world every day.
Funny story – her original plan was to name this “Hearththrobs and Hound Dogs” – with hunky shirtless men. Done before – many times so I am personally glad she changed the idea to this one.
She wanted the images to be more “relatable” so she decided to opt for the “dad bod” which gives the whole series a whole different – and more fun take.
The series takes you on a journey of regular dads – doing regular dad things with rescue dogs.
The goal was to help viewers see these shelter dogs in a more fun way – and how they can be an active part of your life.
So, whether you are heading to the gym or to a pool party – you can see how you could look with an amazing rescue dog by your side.
Below are a few of the images from the series – all images are copyright of Ricki Beason!
So imagine yourself in some of these scenarios with your pups!
A fun trip to Target for what else – some new dog treats and toys…
…or a Halloween duo taking over the neighborhood…
… how about a Sunday brunch with your best bros…..
…or even a fun workout at the local gym to get that heart pumping…
…or celebrating the 4th with some hot dogs and beer!
Fun stuff right?
There were even more fun images from this series you can see here.
Beason is still doing rescue photography and is dedicated to using it to help promote pet adoption. This specific series was a success for the exposure it received by various press outlets and the dogs that were adopted from it.
Proceeds from the sale of the calendar benefitted 3 Dallas area rescues including The Love Pit, Rescue Row and Astasia’s Angels Animal Rescue.
And the best part – the smiles this calendar brought to a whole lot of people! I am guessing right now you are grinning yourself, right?
So, while we never recommend copying – we do encourage emulating this idea to get your supporters excited and want to take part in this creative styled photo fundraiser.
