Rabbit Rescue Fundraising Ideas

Rescued Rabbit
One of my bunnies, Ladybug, who we had for almost 8 years!

Rabbit rescues have their own set of challenges in the rescue world! Some people would never consider rabbits as a pet – but I can tell you from personal experience they make amazing pets as do rats and other smaller critters you may have not considered before!

I have owned 10 rabbits over a span of about 20 years and each of them had their own personality –  likes and dislikes and a few who I swear were dogs on the inside.

The hard part for those working in the world of rabbit rescue is that they typically have less of a support family than their dog and cat rescue counterparts. This can mean less in donations – both monetary and product as well as less opportunity for adoptions.

Getting the exposure and educating the public about why rabbits are amazing pets is only half the battle.

The other half is to raise the funds to continue to care for the rabbits in their care – as well as the ones they rescue going forward.

Below are a few rabbit rescue specific fundraisers that we hope will inspire you!

Brews For Bunnies Fundraising Event

Brews For Bunnies

Because who does not love a good local beer?

Brews for Bunnies is a fantastic fundraiser that will now only raise money but you will also get to know your current supporters a little better! This is also a great opportunity to work with your local brewery on a marketing campaign to educate the community about your bunny rescue and build new relationships with people who live in the community

How it works:

  1. Find a local brewery willing to host your event.
  2. Work with them on a revenue sharing opportunity or charge an admission fee that goes to your organization.
  3. Ask other local relevant businesses to attend with products that can be sold with you getting a piece of the sales.
  4. If there is an outdoor area see if you can setup a great place for adoptable bunnies to do meet and greets.
  5. Make sure you have plenty of literature on hand that educates about what you do and why rabbits are awesome pets!

Hoppy Hour Fundraiser for Rabbit Rescue

Hoppy Hour

Another great name option for the Brews for Bunnies event!

So you will do everything as outlined above but just under a different name.

We are particularly fond of this flier design as well! It is so eye catching and unique and just exudes such a whimsical look.

We are big believers in design making a difference – so make sure you pay attention to the little details!

Bunny Yoga Fundraiser

Most of us have heard of dog and goat yoga fundraisers – but this can work just as well with bunnies! You can try to do the work yourself or use a group like Doggy Noses & Yoga Poses to help you get everything setup!

Of course you need to have some well mannered and social bunnies to have in attendance to enhance the event and warm those hearts!

We have heard many stories of adoptions happening from these events so not only is it a great fundraiser – but it is also great for matchmaking. Personally, I think the calming environment is a perfect way for people to see the animals at the best. Other events are great – but can sometimes be loud and stressful, but not a yoga event!

It may also be beneficial to have a vendor or 2 on hand to earn additional donations. Maybe a local juice vendor or yoga apparel company to help promote the event and sell their goods!

A Rockin’ Good Bunny Event

Yes, this one is a bit more work — but by working with your local community, a lot of the work can be done by others who love helping organizations like yours. For this event there were several sponsors that came together to make it happen.

Also with events like this the rewards all around are typically much higher! You will see more people -build more awareness and raise more funds than a smaller event.

This specific event was done for Benoni’s Bunny Rescue Group and looks like it was an amazing event!

You do not necessarily have to create something this big — but this should give you some ideas for your own awesome event.

Southeast BunFest

This event was hosted by the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast just to build awareness and raise funds for the rabbits and guinea pigs they care for. They offered seminars, activities, vendors and more for families to enjoy.
